What is Yura Olive?
At the time, it was said that there were no examples of olive cultivation on the Sea of Japan side, so we first started cultivating olives in the northern part of Kyoto Prefecture, mainly in the Yura district of Miyazu City, which is famous for Amanohashidate.
These olives are carefully grown one by one in the village of Sanshisuimei and their warm humanity.

Who is growing it?
Since October 2013, members of the Yura Olive Cultivation Association have been growing the olives.
Plowing the field and hand-planting 250 plants one by one. It started from there. Mandarin orange cultivation has been popular in the Yura area for a long time.
However, due to the aging of producers, much land is left fallow. We also play a role in regional revitalization activities by renting land that would otherwise become dilapidated and cultivating olives.
We have now planted 2000 trees (as of July 2020)! ! We plan to continue planting more trees in the future.
What kind of products do you have?
We have ``olive tea'', ``new pickled olives (autumn only)'', ``original olive oil'', and ``blended olive oil''.
What is "olive tea"?
What does it taste like?
It has a fresh, bittersweet, and refreshing taste like young grass.
How do you brew it?
Add 1 pack to 1 liter of hot water, let stand for a few minutes, then enjoy. Also, in the summer, you can add 1 pack to 1 liter of water to make a delicious cold-brew olive tea.
How do you make it?
We hand-pick only the beautiful leaves from the branches that emerge during olive pruning. It is made by thoroughly washing the leaves, drying them, and crushing them.

What ingredients are good for your body?
Olive leaves are rich in ``oleuropein,'' a polyphenol unique to olives that has high antioxidant and antibacterial effects.
Oleuropein has many beneficial effects, including inhibiting blood cholesterol oxidation, preventing arteriosclerosis, inhibiting increases in blood sugar levels, lowering high blood pressure, producing collagen in the body, and activating the immune system in the body. (From the results of component analysis of "Yura Olive Tea" by a specialized organization)
"Newly pickled olives"What?
This is "pickled olives" in salt water. It is a taste limited to autumn and winter where you can enjoy the whole olive fruit. The sweet and salty taste of the olive fruit is exquisite and addictive.
How do you make it?
Olive fruit is very astringent and cannot be eaten as is.
For this reason, each harvested olive fruit is sorted one by one, and in order to maintain its freshness, the process of removing the astringency begins immediately.
Once the astringency has been removed, the beans are soaked in salt water while changing the salt concentration step by step. If you are concerned about salt content, soaking it in fresh water about 5 minutes before serving will remove the salt and make it easier to eat.
The road to olive oil extraction
Impressed! First oil extraction
Early in the morning on October 14, 2016, members of the Yura Olive Cultivation Association hand-picked the Nevadillo Blanco variety of olives, sorted them, and pressed the 65 kilograms of olives into oil for the first time.
It has been three years since we started our activities, and we have worked hard to grow olives for this day. While all the members were watching, the beautiful young leaf-colored olive oil came out for the first time.
My heart was trembling with emotion, and some members were in tears... It was a truly moving moment!
Introduction of "olive oil press"
The Yura Olive Growing Association has an olive oil press lent to them by Miyazu City.
This was ordered from Italy in time for my first oil extraction.
It is very important for olive producers to have an oil press at their disposal at all times.
After the olive fruit is harvested, the competition with the archenemy ``oxidation'' begins. The olives are hand-harvested first thing in the morning, sorted, washed, and then immediately pressed for oil.
We work quickly and pay the utmost attention to ensuring that our products reach your table in the freshest possible condition.
Original olive oil blend
The taste of olive oil changes depending on the timing of harvest and the variety. Olive fruits are green, but as they ripen they gradually turn red and then black.
Even when harvested from the same tree, the flavor changes depending on the harvest time.
Generally, green fruits are less oily, have a fresher, tangy taste, and require less oil extraction.
As it ages, it becomes oilier, has a milder taste, and increases the amount of oil extracted.
Not only does the taste of a single tree change depending on the season, but the taste also differs depending on the variety.
So how do you decide on the taste of olive oil?
Yura Olive has a dedicated olive sommelier who adjusts the delicate taste before shipping.
Harvesting the olives and pressing the oil is not done just once, but many times during the harvest season.
When bottling, we taste several types of olive oils available at the time, mix them, and find the optimal solution.
Because of this process, the taste of Yura Olive's olive oil may vary slightly depending on the season.
We hope you will consider it a pleasure to enjoy this wonder.
blended olive oildecision to sell
Yura olive trees are still young, so we cannot expect a large harvest.
We are unable to meet all the requests of customers who purchase our original olive oil.
Because everything is done by hand, the original oil is inevitably an expensive item.
While faced with such a dilemma, I discovered that there is an olive oil in Italy that is delicious and goes well with Yura olives.
Therefore, Yura Olive's exclusive olive sommelier has mixed olive oils from Italy and Yura and has decided to release a blended olive oil.
With the birth of blended olive oil, we have created an olive oil that can be produced in larger quantities than 100% original olive oil and can be provided at a lower price.
gift from olive
The olive fruits of young Yura Olive trees are full of energy! It's very powerful. Olive oil made from such olives also has a strong taste and flavor.
If you feel a tingling sensation in the back of your throat, this is a sign that it is rich in a polyphenol called oleocanthal.
This is a phytochemical with strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. It is a very good ingredient for the body. Also, there may be some brown lees at the bottom of the bottle, but this is proof that the olives are squeezed from 100% natural olives, and there is no harm to your health, so please enjoy with confidence.
