``Traditional lacquer art Ayaga fountain pens'' (8 in total) were presented to the head of the school.
◆About the “Iromiyabi” series
Traditional lacquer art Saiga is a fountain pen that uses colored lacquer to express Japan's traditional ``color'' and the profound beauty of ``miyabi.'' The shaft material is made of ebonite.
Colored lacquer is then applied over and over again using a lacquer coating technique called ``Ishime-nuri,'' in which the surface of the lacquer becomes uneven like the skin of a stone, and then polished.
It will be a special gift.
The pen tip is equipped with Sailor's ultra-large 21-karat gold nib, which provides a solid feel and a light and soft writing feel.

Traditional lacquer art Ayaga
A writing instrument series that expresses the traditional Japanese color and the elegant beauty of elegance with colored lacquer.
Ebonite is used for the body, and colored lacquer is applied many times to give it a polished finish using ``Ishime-nuri,'' a lacquer coating technique that creates an uneven lacquer surface that resembles the skin of a stone. The nib is equipped with Sailor fountain pen's unique 21-karat gold nib, which provides a supple writing experience. It has a very large nib with a bi-color finish, giving it a solid feel. This product is the work of Mr. Kobayashi, an artist who lives in Kaga City and has been involved in lacquer art for nearly 30 years.
Coloring is available in four elegant colors.
[Light scent] An elegant color that originated from dyeing with fragrant wood and was loved during the Heian period.
[Suho] A traditional color that is also described in the ``Engishiki''* and is a noble color that was favored by the Heian nobility.
[Deep indigo] A color that evokes a sense of dignity and was favored by samurai families as ``Katsuiro''
[Chitose Green] A color that has auspicious meanings such as "eternal unchanging" and "eternal youth and longevity"
The package is a paulownia wood box that is said to be ideal for storing lacquer products, and the tying string is made of Sanada cord, which is durable and does not stretch easily.
*Engishiki is a formal style compiled in the middle of the Heian period. One of the Sandai Kaku style.
◆What is the lacquer art technique “Ishime-nuri”?
Ishime-nuri is a lacquer painting technique in which the surface of the lacquer is uneven, resembling the skin of a stone. The fine grained stones are made by sprinkling charcoal powder or dry lacquer powder on top of lacquer, then applying lacquer on top and polishing it. Furthermore, since lacquer hardens by absorbing moisture from the air, it takes several days to several weeks to dry, so it takes several months to complete a lacquer work.
For this product, the ebonite body of the fountain pen is coated with lacquer for preliminary treatment, then a base coat of lacquer is applied on top of that, then dry lacquer powder made in the same color as the colored lacquer is sprinkled, and a finishing coat of lacquer is applied. After that, it is a masterpiece that has been polished with many coats of colored lacquer.
