The fourth edition of the lacquered fountain pen series “Traditional Lacquer Art Rei” that uses lacquerware from all over the country.

The Aomori Tsugaru region, which is famous for producing lacquerware in Japan, is a cold region that makes it difficult to handle lacquer, and as a result of repeated efforts since ancient times, the technique of varnishing, which involves layering lacquer, was born. Kawari-nuri is a type of lacquer painting that is used to express an expression, and there are two main types: urushi-nuri, which uses lacquer and materials other than lacquer (such as mother-of-pearl, gold powder, silver powder, and plants such as rice husks) to express the expression, and lacquer-nuri, which uses layers of various lacquers to express the taste of lacquer alone. Among them, the technique called Togidashi Kawari-nuri involves applying lacquer several dozen times to create a sturdy lacquerware, and the expressive lacquer art of layered lacquering, which is unparalleled anywhere else, can be said to be a special feature of Tsugaru-nuri.
This product hasFugabun lacquerwareFugamon coloringis a work that combines the characteristics of the two types of lacquer painting mentioned above, created by Hirokazu Shimamori, who has made Tsugaru Togidashi Kawari-nuri inventive and unique, enhancing its uniqueness. By applying lacquer dozens of times, including under-lacquering, lacquer-laying, top-lacquering, powder sprinkling, and hard lacquering, a variety of tastes are revealed in each layer of lacquer, and by honing these layers, an elegant expression is created. It is a tasteful and elegant lacquer art with a gentle, sensitive and elegant texture that expresses the elegant sensibility that flows through the Japanese heart.
